It helps them develop a robust sense of self, and is emotionally gratifying to them. They learn about fairness, and through pretending learn acceptable ways of expressing emotion such as anger, fear, disappointment, stress and discover methods of handling these feelings. So encourage your child’s play. Colour footage, make finger paintings, build buildings and unreal towns with blocks, and built a tent in the middle of the living room and go camping! And as we all know, youth is fleeting, so allow them to enjoy being a child while they are one!
