Help Your Children To Be Fit And Trim

The ideas that children have about what is healthy is completely different from the adults in their lives. To a child, anything that looks, smells, or feels good must be good for you. They have yet to discover that just because something looks good does not necessarily mean that it is good for you. As parents, we become their primary examples and that is a scary role indeed.

Making good choices is just as important for the parents since their children will learn from their examples. A kids face lights up at the thought of having a bowl of ice cream. Every kid wants to feel good, so they need what makes them feel good. A person can try and explain that yes, it does in fact make me happy, but it isn’t really that good for our bodies. Kids have a hard time believing that vegetables are better for them than candy.

Unfortunately weight loss programs like http://www.fatlossfactor.com are not designed with a child’s growing body in mind so it is important to start the education process early. Adults can make choices for their babies that teach them to eat healthy, such as offering them fruit juice instead of a sip of soda. Nutrition can become something exciting to children if it is presented in the right way. }Learning experiences can be incorporated into the dinner table conversations.~Every meal can include fun discussions about eating healthy and why the foods they are eating are good too eat.~Don’t pass up the opportunity for kids to learn what the right choices are by talking about their choices as they make them.} Let the kids know how their body benefits from eating certain types of food and how it will help their body work at its best. It can be turned into a game that kids will enjoy playing as they learn. Include your kids in the meal making process so that they will take pride in the food. Many times adults are reluctant to allow children to help in the kitchen because it makes a mess or it takes too long, but the time spent teaching a child such an important life skill will be repaid many times over in the future. There is not age limit on allowing a kid to help in the kitchen, even the smallest children can help in some way if a person thinks about it. Beginning at 3-4 years old, depending on the child’s abilities, children can begin be part of the food preparation process. Allowing them to participate in meal preparation will let them feel that were a part of the dinner on their plate and encourage them to try unfamiliar foods.

Simple learning activities can increase a child’s awareness of nutrition. Memory games using pictures of healthy food choices are a good way to remind kids of what things are good for their bodies. Food is all about the feel, the smell, the sight, and the taste and kids can be made aware of these things through the games.

A healthy body is one that is moving around and kids need to know that sitting on the couch playing video games is not a healthy choice. Kids need to be up and running around for at least 45 minutes every day. There is no age that is too early to stress the importance of this at. It doesn’t matter if the child is out helping walk the family dog or doing a six pack ab exercise program with their dad in the evening, the need for activity cannot be overemphasized. When I go on message boards like the biggest loser weight loss forum, there are always lots of stories from people who are battling weight problems that never got much exercise when they were kids and were never taught a healthy lifestyle when they should have been.

A child’s parents can teach them how to pick the right foods to eat and how to get active everyday if they put in the effort. Learning the healthy habits when they have people around to teach them will allow them to follow through with these habits when they are out on their own.
